The E-7 Wedgetail: An Eye in the Sky Over Europe

A plane in development for the U.S. Air Force (USAF) has proven itself yet again.

The E-7 Wedgetail aircraft has a 360-degree radar technology that can track multiple threats in the air or at sea, providing an eye in the sky for the forces who fly it.

The Royal Australian Air Force’s (RAAF) E-7A Wedgetail aircraft completed a six-month mission providing crucial surveillance across Eastern Europe. The deployment showcased the advanced capabilities of the E-7.

USAF has chosen the Wedgetail, named for an Australian eagle, as the replacement for its E-3 AWACS platform. The United Kingdom and NATO have also selected it, and will join Australia, South Korea, and Turkey in the global fleet.
