SLS Will Deliver US Dominance in Space

Cementing America’s leadership in space takes more than a single launch. It takes investment, sustainment, and constant innovation. Thankfully, that’s exactly what our nation has in the Artemis Missions.

The Artemis Missions are taking the next generation of human explorers to the moon, deep space, and eventually to Mars. At the heart of these missions is the Space Launch System (SLS), the only proven rocket capable of carrying crew and cargo to the moon in a single launch.

SLS is irreplaceable to the Artemis Missions and America’s long-term space strategy. It’s the centerpiece of American exploration, technological and scientific advancement, as well as national security and defense. Congress must invest in NASA’s SLS rocket to ensure that the Artemis Missions can continue and establish American dominance in space.

Our leadership in civil space is critical for our national long-term safety, defense, and scientific exploration. The United States must compete and win in this new space race to ensure that dangerous adversarial nations don’t gain leverage in this all-important new frontier.

Competitors like Russia and China are investing significant resources in space exploration and making progress that puts America’s role as the global space leader in jeopardy. Congress cannot let this happen.

Your support for NASA’s Space Launch System (SLS) and the Artemis program is an investment in America’s future in space.  The SLS is a direct to lunar orbit, U.S owned vehicle, that can enable us to carry massive amounts of cargo in a single launch to build our presence in permanent lunar orbit, all while having the highest certification of human rated capability to deliver our American astronauts to lunar orbit and beyond.

Your vote of support for SLS can ensure the sustainment of all future missions and make it clear to the world that the U.S. is fully invested in being the global leader in space.

Importantly, funding for NASA’s flagship Artemis program will not only enable missions to continue, but it will fortify our U.S. supply chain supporting the manufacturing of the SLS rocket. More than 96,400 American workers in every state contribute to SLS and the annual investment by NASA translates into more than $23.8 billion in total economic output. Such stability will support family-supporting jobs, invigorate local and state economies, and keep overall program costs down for taxpayers.

While there are many funding considerations before Congress, as your constituent, I urge you to prioritize financial support for SLS. Your support will enable development, production, and continuous improvement to the world’s most capable rocket.
