As world events continue to show, ballistic missile threats from foreign adversaries – like North Korea – are real.
The Ground-based Midcourse Defense (GMD) system is the only missile defense program capable of protecting the entire United States – including Alaska and Hawaii – from long-range ballistic missile attacks. GMD offers the U.S. Military a robust and reliable capability to defend America, and the system stands on watch 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Some policymakers are considering a change in the program management and contract structure of the GMD system. These changes could cost private sector jobs while bloating government bureaucracy and introducing risk to the sophisticated, proven platform at exactly the wrong time in today’s threat environment. Tell Congress to support the current proven, cost-effective, and reliable GMD system structure in place today.
