The KC-46A Pegasus Tanker is the premier refueling jet of the United States Air Force that keeps our pilots in the fight and supports our service members.
The U.S. Air Force’s advanced KC-46A Pegasus Tankercan deliver more fuel at longer ranges from shorter runways, and will extend the operational reach of aircraft around the world. The design of the Tanker is based on a Boeing 767 fuselage converted to include the latest aircraft technology such asdigital refueling displays with 3-D imaging, enhanced threat detection systems, a dynamic refueling boom to support all kinds of aircraft, and much more. The resilient Tanker also has next-generation combat capabilities that can allow the plane to operate through a nuclear or biological attack, and is hardened against an electromagnetic pulse.
The Pegasus Tanker not only refuels planes, the new jet can carry three times more cargo pallets, up to twice as many passengers, and 30percent more aeromedical evacuation patients than the KC-135 it replaces. From humanitarian relief to security missions, America’s tanker fleet is the force multiplier that allows the U.S. to expand our operations abroad.
